Understanding and Using Smile Liveness Detection for Identity Verification
Last updated: March 7, 2025
Our Smile Liveness Detection feature helps prevent fraud by ensuring that the person completing identity verification is physically present during the verification process.
How Smile Liveness Detection Works
During the verification process, users will be guided through several steps:
Positioning their face in the center of the frame
Adjusting their distance from the camera as prompted
Maintaining direct eye contact with the camera
Performing a natural smile when requested
Key Security Features
The system actively monitors for:
Video injection attempts
Still image manipulation
Proper lighting conditions
Image blur
Active liveness indicators
Note: Users have up to three attempts to complete the verification process. After two failed attempts, the system will accept the image on the third try.
Common Rejection Scenarios
The verification may be rejected if:
The user does not perform a natural smile when prompted
Pre-recorded images or videos are used
The user's eyes are not clearly visible
Lighting conditions are poor
The face is not properly centered in the frame
Best Practices for Users
To ensure successful verification, users should:
Complete the verification in a well-lit environment
Follow all on-screen prompts carefully
Maintain a natural expression until prompted to smile
Keep their face centered and at the requested distance from the camera
Ensure their eyes are clearly visible throughout the process
