How to configure AML checks on your AiPrise template

Last updated: April 16, 2025

AiPrise allows you to enable and fine-tune AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks directly within your template settings. These checks help ensure compliance with global financial regulations and screen users against risk-based lists.

Step-by-Step Guide to Enabling AML Checks

  1. Go to your AiPrise Dashboard

  2. Navigate to Template SettingsBasic Configuration

  3. Scroll down until you see the AML Config section

AML Configuration Has Three Main Components:

1. Fuzziness Score

This controls how closely names must match for a hit to be returned.

  • 100% (Exact Match): Only returns matches with identical names
E.g. Martin Smith → only returns “Martin Smith”

  • 0% (Loose Match): Returns broader matches, including variations
E.g. Martin Smith → also returns “Martin R. Smith” or similar

Adjust this setting depending on how wide or narrow your compliance team wants the match criteria to be.

2. Continuous AML Monitoring

Enabling this feature ensures that even after onboarding, users are continuously monitored against updated AML databases.

  • If a user has no AML hits today, but appears on a sanctions list weeks or months later, AiPrise will:

    • Automatically flag the session

    • Send you an alert

    • Move the case into a review state

Example:
If you onboard a user like Martin Smith and new AML hits emerge later, those hits will be flagged in real time and put up for review. You can then decide whether to:

  • Approve and continue allowing access

  • Reject or ban the user based on updated risk

3. List Selection via Advanced AML Settings

To choose the specific lists to run checks against:

  1. Click on Advanced AML Settings

  2. Select the relevant list categories, such as:

    • Sanctions

    • Watchlists / Warning lists

    • Fitness and Probity

    • PEPs (Politically Exposed Persons) – Class 1 & Class 2

    • Adverse Media

    • Others as applicable

AiPrise will return a hit if any name you're screening appears on the selected lists.

Tips:

  • Lower fuzziness = stricter, fewer hits

  • Higher fuzziness = broader, more potential matches

  • Always review returned hits with your compliance team for accuracy
